The Entebbe Declaration is a collective civil society call to reclaim investment frameworks for people and the planet. It was launched during the Civil Society Forum held in Entebbe, Uganda, in November 2024, bringing together over 50 organisations from across Africa and beyond, including grassroots movements, advocacy groups, trade unions, and research institutions.

Grounded in principles of climate justice, gender equality, and human rights, the Declaration challenges exploitative international investment agreements and calls for a transformative shift in investment governance. It outlines a bold vision for investment policies that serve sustainable development, economic sovereignty, and the wellbeing of communities.

The Declaration advocates for dismantling harmful Investor–State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) mechanisms, promoting transparent and accountable frameworks, and investing in public services, agroecology, just transitions, and local value creation.

This platform exists to amplify our shared demands, connect allies, and advance African-led and people-centred alternatives to the current global investment regime.
